He’s not a purple piece of candy, a fuzzy coin or a discolored apple with a slight over-bite. So what is that purple thing you see with the Unison crew at parades, summer events and Classroom Credit Union tours giving kids high-fives and hugs? He is Moola Moola – a magical money monster from the make-believe land of Lotta Loot – and he is our kids’ club savings account mascot!
How many of you, especially parents of our mini members with savings accounts, knew that?
Moola relocated to Unison from his homeland of Lotta Loot (located 777 miles southeast of Shangri-La) back in 1984. He was hired to help show kids that saving and managing money was not just for adults. We believe that saving should be fun!
The Moola Moola Kids’ Club is for our members ages 10 and under. You can encourage kids who receive money for special occasions, holidays or an allowance, to save by opening a Moola Moola Kids’ Club Savings account for them. A $5.00 deposit is all it takes to start! Kids receive a certificate and a cool Kids’ Club wristband to wear. Each club member will also receive a punch card to earn a punch for each deposit over $5.00. When the card is full, they can turn it in for a prize and a chance to win a $25 deposit into their savings account. Kids ages 5-10 will also receive a newsletter twice a year and all club members are invited to a summer and winter Moola party.
It’s never too early to teach children about the power of saving and the advantage of being a member of a credit union. We believe that the size of the deposit isn’t as important as the habit of saving! You, Unison and Moola Moola too – helping our young members realize their financial potential together!
Watch for Moola Moola at our branches, festivals, parades and other events throughout our community! Moola and the U-Crew will be at the upcoming Cheese Fest parade on June 1st in Little Chute.
