During our high school years my friend Angie and I were crazy about two things—tennis and New Kids on the Block (hey, don’t judge). For a few years following high school, we would occasionally meet back in our hometown for a game of tennis, reminisce and laugh about our past choices of music. The mini reunions ended nearly ten years ago when my friend made the choice to become a memory for all of us who knew her.
Saturday, September 8th will be the 3rd Annual Walk for Suicide Awareness in Kaukauna. Unison Credit Union is proud to be a sponsor and have members of the Unison family participate in the 5k Walk. Event organizer, Barb Bigalke said the purpose of the annual event is to, “bring knowledge and understanding to our community and ensure that our message is heard.” The more walkers, the louder the message gets, right? In three short years this annual walk has grown from 50 people the first year to over 1,000 registered so far for this year!
Your participation in the 3rd Annual 5K Walk for Suicide Awareness will help to let friends, family, and the communities we call home, know we must come together to bring awareness to suicide and work towards the ultimate goal of prevention.
Visit www.walkforsuicideawareness.org for details or register on the morning of the event starting at 8:45am. The walk begins at 10am from Riverview Middle School in Kaukauna.
